Friday Five 07.19.19 – I Moved, Redi-Box, Fashion Feature & More

July 19, 2019

Happy Friday, my friends!!! I hope that you’ve all had a great week! Coming at ya today with a brand new Friday Five post!

1. Bye bye Wrigleyville, Hello Lincoln Park!

I’ve officially moved! On Monday, I traded in my Wrigleyville apartment for one in Lincoln Park and I’m loving it so far! I’m definitely going to miss my old neighborhood, but I’m super excited to discover my new one. To name a few things I’ll miss about Wrigley: 1. Being so close to Wrigley Field & the Cubbies! Pri and I lived just a few blocks from the park and we could hear all of the concerts and whenever they played “Go Cubs Go” from our back porch. 2. Being able walk over to to go to the bar at Hotel Zachary on a whim. 3. Being so close to the Red Line for my morning commute.

I’ll definitely still visit Wrigley regularly. It’s one of me and my friends’ favorite “going out” spots and I’m actually headed there tomorrow night for my friend’s bachelorette party! That being said, I can’t wait to see all that Lincoln Park has to offer! I’m looking forward to discovering all the best spots around my new neighborhood. Here’s to new chapters!

2. Dress Like Me Fashion Feature

Dress Like Me decided to write an article about my style… So that’s pretty cool! Check it out here if you want to give it a read.

3. Redi-Box

As I mentioned above, I just moved, so I had to pack up all of my stuff. One of my least favorite things about moving has always been the boxes… They’re just a hassle! Especially at my last apartment, the disposal process for boxes was a pain. Plus, it feels so wasteful to spend so much money on something you end up getting rid of so soon after purchasing.

For this move, I had the opportunity to work with a really cool Chicago company called Redi-Box! Redi-Box offers an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional cardboard moving boxes. They rent these recyclable plastic moving crates, which are super convenient. Redi-Box drops the crates off at your first apartment so you can pack and then they pick them up from your new apartment once you’ve moved! It’s SO easy. (For reference, you do have to pack and actually move them yourself.)

I got to try out their 2-3 bedroom package, since I had quite a lot of items between my bedroom, kitchen, and living room at the old apartment. They also gave me two of their wardrobe boxes which made both packing and unpacking my closet SO easy! I didn’t end up using all of the boxes provided since I had the wardrobe boxes, but I came close! Redi-Box is currently in Chicago and Portland, so if you’re moving any time soon I would 100% suggest checking them out! Using Redi-Box made this move much easier for me and my movers honestly loved them due to the easy stackability they offered.

4. 29 Rooms

29 Rooms is back in Chicago! I didn’t go last year, but this time around I was invited to their VIP preview party before they opened the exhibit to the public. It was a fun evening spent with some of my favorite people and I appreciated getting to check everything out before it got crazy crowded! I will say, this time around, the rooms seemed to be significantly more political in their themes! Nothing wrong with that, but it definitely took me by surprise. My personal favorites were the rooms where you wrote a letter to your younger self and the “dance party.” I shared a bunch from the night in my stories and they’re in the “event” highlight if you want to check them out!

5. My Favorite Murder

I know that I am SO late to the party here, but I’ve been LOVING listening to “My Favorite Murder” for the past few weeks. I’m on episode 127 and I’m absolutely hooked! This is the first podcast that I’ve really gotten into and I’ve come to realize that I actually prefer podcasts to TV when I’m doing blog work. With a podcast, I can focus on my screen while I’m editing photos rather than looking up every few seconds.

That’s all I’ve got for now. I hope that you have a great weekend! Until the next Friday Five…
