Friday Five 03.10.17

TGIF! Who else is ready for the weekend?

I’ve been on spring break from school this past week, but I chose to stick around Chicago rather than jetting off to a more tropical destination. I’ve been working, catching up on emails and planning lots of upcoming content for Bowtiful Life. (Get excited!)

For today’s post, I’m sharing five things that are on my radar this week.

Friday Five

Happy Friday, lovelies! It’s time for a brand new Friday Five post to get you up to date on what I’ve been up to and to share some fun things that have been on my radar recently. Let’s get started!

1. Maggie Daley Park – Ice Ribbon

I visited Maggie Daley Park yesterday and went ice skating for the first time in Lord only knows how long! I’ve been wanting to check out The Ribbon ever since it first opened, so this visit was one that I’d been looking forward to for a while! I had a total wipe out shortly after getting on the ice and plenty of close calls after that, but it was SO MUCH FUN (and I eventually remembered how to balance on the ice.) If you’re in Chicago this winter, I would definitely suggest checking it out!

2. YOU’RE INVITED: Snowball 2016

Snowball 2016

The Junior Council is hosting their 28th annual fundraiser for The Adolescent and Pediatric AIDS & HIV Programs at The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago! The event is being held at Union Station on the 30th and will be a night of dancing with live music, tastes from 22 of the Chicago’s finest restaurants, and over 150 silent auction items and experiences to bid on!

What: Snowball 2016. Date: Saturday, January 30, 2016 8 pm-1 am. Location: Union Station. Benefitting: Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago’s Adolescent and Pediatric AIDS & HIV Programs. Cost: $145 (For the Kids!)

You can purchase tickets and/or donate to the cause right HERE!

3. My Favorite Parka is on Sale!

I got my Land’s End tulip-hem parka last year and it has been an absolute lifesaver during the chilly weather! I can’t say enough good things about this coat and right now it’s on sale!

4. Astronauts – Rachel Platten

I’m loving Rachel Platten’s new song, “Astronauts.” It is SO good!

5. Netflix Confessions

I’ve been watching a ton of Netflix during my break from school and I’ve been binge-watching NCIS for the last few weeks. (Fun fact: I’m a huge fan of crime shows!) I’m looking for more suggestions for after I finish watching all the episodes they have on Netflix. What’s your current favorite show or movie on Netflix?

I hope you all have an absolutely wonderful weekend!

Friday Five

Hey lovelies, happy Friday! I realized recently that haven’t done a Friday Five post in a while, so it’s time to share five things that are on my radar this week!
1. I’m so excited to announce that I’m a Teen Vogue Ambassador and that I’m going to be hosting a BTSS (Back to School Saturday) trunk party next weekend with Teen Vogue to celebrate school starting up again! I’ll be posting a recap here on the blog after the event and you can check out the official event hashtag, #BowtifulTeenVogue, on social media to see all the photos from the event!
2. I just picked up this dress in wine at Nordstrom for fall and I’m absolutely in love with the color! I can’t wait for the cool fall weather to really kick in so I can wear it with black tights and my favorite pair of riding boots!

3. I’ve been wearing this Kendra Scott Phara necklace quite a lot recently and I’m such a fan! It can be worn a bunch of different ways and it really goes with everything (it also comes in silver).

4. As I mentioned in my September Playlist post, I’m in love with The Weeknd’s new album.
Oh. My. Goodness. It’s so good! Take a listen on Spotify and check it out for yourself!

5. Finally, this was just too adorable not to share. Cutest. Thing. EVER!

Have a great weekend!

Friday Five

Happy Friday lovelies! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts, so I thought I’d do a Friday Five today, sharing five fun, random, and/or relevant things on my radar this week!
1. I went to one of my favorite places yesterday, the Art Institute of Chicago! The AIC was recently voted the #1 museum in the world by Trip Advisor and every Thursday you can get in free from 5pm-8pm if you’re an Illinois resident. (Loyola University Chicago also has a deal with the museum which allows all LUC students to get in for free with their student id at any time!)
2. I’m really looking forward to trying out these 4 fruit infused water recipes some time soon since it’s finally starting to get a bit warmer! I’m really ready for sunshine and beach weather.
3. I’m absolutely loving THIS Lilly Pulitzer dress right now!
4. I’ve been spending lots of time on Tumblr and Pinterest these last few weeks and I’m looking for some more fun accounts to follow! If you’re on either, leave your link below or message me on Tumblr. 🙂
5. Finally, some of you may have noticed that I did a little bit of construction on the blog this week, what do you guys think?
Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Five

I was featured in this month’s issue of District Magazine as well as on the cover! I talked with them about Bowtiful Life and a few other things. My interview starts on page 16!

I’ve had friends telling me for months that I needed to watch this show and I finally started it last Thursday. Needless to say, I’m officially hooked!!! {Confession: I’m already on season three…!}

This is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. This 15-month-old little girl experiences rain for the first time and it’s absolutely precious. The sheer amount of joy in her face is adorable!
4. Spring Break
Spring break started for me this past weekend and we’ve had some pretty frigid temperatures here in Chicago {hence my constant referral to this break as Winter Break part two.} It’s been quite chilly, but it’s been wonderful to actually get to sleep in and spend some time curled up watching Netflix and drinking tea. It may not be exactly the way most people would imagine or want to spend their Spring Break, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! I feel rested, relaxed, and ready to take on the rest of this semester.
5. NYC in a week..
I’m going back to New York and I’m so incredibly excited!!! I’m flying back to the Big Apple at the end of next week for Teen Vogue Fashion U and I’m so happy to be going back to NYC again!
Happy Friday!

Friday Five

Happy Friday, lovelies!!! This week has been crazy busy and felt really, really long. In all honesty, it’s been a teeny tiny bit stressful balancing everything in my schedule, especially getting enough sleep. Regardless, it’s finally Friday which I am so incredibly happy about! Here are five things I’ve had on my radar this week and wanted to share with all of you.

1. SNOW! It snowed so much this week!!! Monday classes around Chicago were canceled almost everyone, but we still had school. There’s really no such thing as a snow day for us! However, my downtown morning class was canceled and I was able to relax in the morning and grab brunch. Later that day I trekked through the snow to my afternoon classes on campus.

2. I’m in crafting crunch time right now! I get my Little in just over a week so I’ve been busy with that in addition to everything else I’ve been up to recently.

3. I’m absolutely loving Kate Spade’s charm shop! I was scrolling through their site this week during some down time when I saw the collection for the first time. I’ve always been a big fan of charm bracelets and the ones that they’re making are all adorable! I think these three are my favorite charms (1)(2)(3) and this is my favorite of the bracelets.

4.  J.Crew has lots of fun new arrivals right now. I’m especially loving this bracelet! I think it’s so fun and unique, but still has a classy look to it. I added it to my wish list on Pinterest.

5. Lastly, check out these cool pictures of an art exhibit in Texas that I found through Tumblr! I also found a video of the exhibit. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Those are my Friday Five for this week, TGIF!

Friday Five

Happy Friday! It’s been another busy week, but what else is new? I’ve been planning out the rest of my summer and I can’t believe that I go back to school in less than two months! June has flown by, but July is going to be a packed month for me too. I’ll still be working, but I’ll also be getting my wisdom teeth out, traveling for a few days, and squeezing in as much beach time as possible.
Here’s what’s new this week…
I’ve been switching up my perfume a little recently and I discovered a new scent I really like! Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet is a soft and sweet floral scent and it’s a nice departure from my go-to scent every now and then.
This had me in stitches yesterday when I came across a pin Pinterest. This four-year-old’s mom dresses his up and poses him like models for pictures. Isn’t he adorable?!
My sorority, Chi Omega, is currently holding our national convention in Orlando, Florida! A few of my sisters are attending and I couldn’t be happier for them. I’ve been following along on the official Chi O Instagram which has been posting multiple pictures a day from convention. It looks like a blast!
I am obsessed with Ed Sheeran’s new album! X (pronounced “multiply”) is phenomenal and I can’t stop listening to it!
What’s new with you this week?

Friday Five

I haven’t done one of these Friday Five posts in what feels like forever! Here’s what has been going on during this crazy week…

1. Spring Semester ’14

I am absolutely in love with my schedule and my classes this semester! I’m taking a lot of classes relating to my major, comm studies, and I’m downtown quite a bit. I was actually able to pop into a few of my favorite shops on Michigan Avenue this week after I was done with my classes for the day. I’m loving this city lifestyle!

2. Initiation
I have initiation for my sorority, Chi Omega, next week! I am so excited!!!

3. Polar Vortex/Chiberia

It has been insanely cold in the past few weeks, as well as everything being very icy. When the temperatures dropped and the snow began to pile up, people in my area started calling this phenomenon “Snowmageddon” and “Chiberia” (Chicago mixed with Siberia). This week hasn’t been anywhere near as bad, but there is still snow and ice absolutely everywhere!

4. “Piano” by Ariana Grande
I’ve been playing this song like crazy this week, it’s super catchy and upbeat. I love it!

5. Bowtiful Life is Turning Two
This Monday, January 20th, Bowtiful Life will officially be two years old! Be sure to check out the “blogiversary” post that I’ll be posting that day. Time has flown by!

I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Friday Five

The weather here has been ridiculous. As I mentioned in my Fall in July post, the weather seems to be quite confused. The average temperature has been in the high sixties- mid seventies in the past week and it feels as though fall has come early. It’s still summer…. can we please have it feel like summer?

I got new glasses! Most of you were probably unaware that I have glasses, but that’s because I wear my contacts all the time. It was time for my yearly eye exam and also time to switch up my glasses, so I got these tortoiseshell Tiffany & Co. frames with bows on the side. Aren’t they just adorable?

I have a new social media picture! All of my official blog-related accounts (pinterest, twitter, facebook, instagram, etc.) now have this picture as the profile picture.

I’m going to see Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran tomorrow! My friend Rose and I got tickets for Taylor’s Red tour and I am so beyond excited!!!

I move into my res hall in less than two weeks! I’m starting to figure out what I’m going to pack as well as what I need to pick up from the store before move in day. So much to do, so little time!

Friday Five

Today I take the very last final of my high school career! I have a total of 43 minutes of school to take this one last test. After that, my friend Bridget and I plan to clean out our lockers which are currently filled with four years worth of books, papers, etc.
In regard to “lasts,” tonight is the last time that I’ll be performing in my school’s annual spring dance show. I’ve been in the show all four years and I’ve been doing recitals at this theater since I was only three years old. This will probably be the last time I dance there which is crazy since I’ve grown so used to spending time there every May/June for rehearsals and performances.

I’ve been working a lot on crafting for my dorm for next year! I just painted this frame last Friday which was inspired by Lilly Pulitzer’s “You Gotta Regatta” print. I’m really happy with how it turned out!
Today is also my last day in uniform!!! I have been wearing a school uniform for the last eight years, so I cannot wait to have some more freedom in the way I dress on a daily basis. With my interest and passion for fashion, I am so excited to be able to wear what I want each morning instead of just throwing on a polo and khakis five days a week.
My school’s Baccalaureate mass is this weekend! This will be one of the last senior events before graduation next weekend. I’m looking forward to singing in the choir with a bunch of my friends for one last time. It will definitely be bittersweet.
Have a wonderful weekend!
