Top 12 Summer Nail Polishes

It’s summertime, so that means sandals and fun colors of nail polish!

When I was little, painting my nails was always a huge deal because I’d get to dive into the massive plastic bin of nail polish that my mom had collected over the years. It was something that was saved for special occasions or as a special treat after various accomplishments.

When it was time to paint my nails, I’d take each of the bottles out one by one and arrange them by color, size, brand, and anything else I could think of before finally picking one and sitting down with my mom for some fun mother-daughter pampering.

Flash forward to present-day. With what I do for work, I constantly have my nails painted and I’ve put together quite the collection of polishes myself. (One that honestly rivals my mother’s.) Today I’m sharing some of my personal favorite nail polish brands and nail colors for the warmer months!

Review: Hask’s Superfruit Healthy Hair Collection

If I’m being honest, I’m super picky when it comes to taking care of my hair and the products that I use. Hask gave me the opportunity to switch up my routine and try out their Superfruit Healthy Hair Collection and I’m absolutely loving it!

For some background, I don’t put much time into my hair routine and most days I just get up, brush it and go. It’s rare that I use heat or product on my hair at all  (I literally don’t own a straightener and I’ve used a blowdryer maybe 12 times in the past three years.) I curl my hair a few times a year for special events, but that’s pretty much it. When it comes to shampooing and conditioning, I typically wash my hair at night and go to bed with slightly damp hair.

BITE Beauty Lip Lab

BITE Lip Lab SoHo New York Bowtiful Life

I’m a sucker for a fun lip product, so while I was in NYC I stopped by the BITE Lip Lab on Prince Street in SoHo to design my very own BITE lipstick. This location is the only BITE Lip Lab in the world and when designing your lipstick you get to pick four aspects: 1. The color (of course) 2. The texture/finish. 3. The scent 4. The style of lid.

Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show – Spring 2016

This past weekend, the weather in Chicago was absolutely gorgeous and I had the pleasure of attending my third Beauty Trend Show at Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue!

Megan Rogers-Reilley and Kelly Edwards Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show Spring 2016 Chicago Bowtiful Life

It was awesome to see so many familiar faces both on and off the runway. I’ve only been to the Fall Beauty Trend Show in the past, so I loved getting to see the Spring side of things! I’m loving some of the trends this season and I’ve linked all the featured brands and products from the show in this post!

Target Does It Again – derma e

Let’s be honest here, I’m a bit of a Target junkie. I go in for one thing and then 20 minutes later I find myself in line to check out with three more things that I discovered while roaming around. There are a few sections that I always hit up whenever I set foot in Target: office supplies, the dollar section (I’ve found some great stationery there!), the women’s clothing section, and the beauty aisles. Whenever I walk through beauty, I’m always overwhelmed by the seemingly endless options when it comes to every kind of product you could imagine, especially when it comes to skincare.

I’m really not one for new year’s resolutions… I’m not the best at keeping them, at least. However, one of my resolutions this year is to take better care of my skin by hydrating and moisturizing more. In other words, to drink more water and find products that agree with my skin and really make a difference in how it looks and feels. I have somewhat sensitive skin, so I also want to make sure that what I’m putting on my skin, especially my face, does more good than harm.

A “new-to-me” brand, derma e, recently launched their line at Target and released a brand new product, Firming DMAE Eye Lift, which specifically targets (mini pun there) a bunch of the under-eye issues that lead to looking far more tired than you actually are. Given the fact that I never sleep enough, I can use all the help I can get. I got to try it out as well as a bunch of the other derma e products that have launched at Target, and I love them! One of my favorite aspects of the products and brand, beyond the visual change in my skin that I have noticed, is the fact that derma e uses what they call “Green Chemistry,” a term that’s explained below in the derma e story.

Pinrose GIVEAWAY

Hope you’re all having a very merry Friday, lovelies!
I’m incredibly excited to announce that I’m doing a fun giveaway for all of you this week on my Instagram! I’ve teamed up with one of my new favorite perfume brands, Pinrose, to give away not one, but two of their travel petal packs! Each set comes with two packets of each of the ten Pinrose scents (and they all smell AMAZING)!

I’ve talked about Pinrose on Bowtiful Life before, in my September favorites video and in my Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trend Show recap! Ever since I was introduced to the brand, I’ve been hooked! The packaging is adorable, the scents smell amazing, and the way they help you pick you scent is super cool! To figure out the “perfect” scent, you take their quiz and they match you up with your scent personality type and the three fragrances that go along with that type! I got “goddess” when I took it.

You can enter the giveaway right here!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! (Don’t forget to enter!)

Influenster Homecoming VoxBox

I got a fun package in the mail on Thursday… an Influenster VoxBox! I got my very first VoxBox last spring and I opened up my #HCVoxBox (Homecoming VoxBox) to find some great goodies to try out! I’ve included more photos and mini reviews of each of the items below so you can decide if you’d like to try them out too!
Kettle Brand Potato Chips – Jalapeño
These were alright. I’m not a huge fan of jalapeño flavored things in general, but I shared them with my roommate and she seemed to like them! I personally love the Kettle Brand salt and vinegar potato chips the best.
Olay Active Botanicals Refreshing Gel Cleanser
I’ve never really used gel cleansers when it comes to skincare, but so far I like this one. It’s infused with snow mushrooms (snow mushrooms can hold 500x their weight in water!!!) which are supposed to help with hydration. I’m curious to see if this cleanser changes how my skin feels after a few more uses!
Red Vines
Oh my goodness… I LOVE RED VINES. I was super excited to get a whole pack of these in my box to snack on while doing homework this weekend.
Luden’s Throat Drops – Blue Raspberry
These don’t taste like cough drops at all, they’re honestly just like candy and they remind me of the blue raspberry Jolly Ranchers! Just a heads up, they will temporarily tint your tongue blue. Whoops!
SinfulColors SinfulShine Nail Polish
I received an intense black polish called “dark room” and the topcoat, which  is clear, contrary to what you might believe based on the bottle. The shine of these products is absolutely insane. I tested them out to see if the shine potential really matched the name and it really does! I’ll probably be doing my toes in “dark room” the next time I paint them!
Please note that all of the items featured in this post were sent to me courtesy of Influenster and all opinions are my own!

Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trend Show 2015

This weekend I got up very early (a bit too early for a Saturday at least) and I headed downtown to Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue for their Fall Beauty Trend Show! I attended last year as well and this year was filled with even more fantastic products (all listed and linked at the bottom of this post) and representatives and/or founders from all the companies featured in the show. Nordstrom’s regional beauty director for the Midwest, Kelly Edwards, acted as emcee and host for the show and she was so much fun!
The two sections for the show this year emphasized a graphic eye and a bold lip. I’m a lip product junkie, so that was one of my favorite parts for sure! Other highlights for me included the Dior, Pinrose, Jo Malone, Aerin (Estee Lauder’s granddaughter), Nest, and bkr presentations.
Estee Lauder’s granddaughter, Aerin Lauder!
Erika Shumate, Co-Founder of Pinrose
I  absolutely LOVE this company! The idea behind how they match you to a fragrance is so fun! You take a short quiz that asks you to pick between colors, images, and sounds and then you’re matched up with a specific profile and scents to go along with it. I got “Goddess” as shown below!
It was wonderful meeting Laura Slatkin, the founder of NEST Fragrances, after the show! It was so cool to hear about how she came up with their most recent scents and the inspiration behind it! I’ve been a long-time admirer of Nest candles, but I’d never purchased one because I could never pick just one! This time around, I finally made a decision and I picked up two: Moroccan Amber and Birchwood Pine. I’m obsessed with the gorgeous gold detailing on the Birchwood Pine holder!
Jo Malone’s newest scent, Mimosa and Cardamom
I also got to meet the founders of bkr water bottles, Kate Cutler and Tal Winter! Their bottles are now being sold in the Nordstrom beauty department, because naturally, hydration is a big part of beauty! Why not hydrate in style? Their glass bottles come wrapped in silicone in shades inspired by the runway and I picked up one in the color “Gloss”. I’m already finding myself drinking even more water than usual because the bottle is too cute and it fits perfectly in my bag!

Reliable Reds – Top 10 Red Lip Products

Today’s post is a continuation of my patriotic posting in anticipation of the upcoming holiday on Saturday! I love wearing red lipstick for formal events, but I also love wearing it “just because!” Last year on the 4th, I wore this shade and I got tons of compliments throughout the day (and I didn’t have to re-apply it, not even once!). When you’re wearing a bold color like red, you don’t want your lipstick, gloss, stain, etc. to be half on half off as the day goes on, because let’s be honest, that’s not a good look for anyone! That being said, I’ve put together list of my top ten favorite products for whenever I feel like sporting a red lip. Each of these was chosen for a different reason. For some, it was strictly based on the shade itself, others were chosen for their staying power, some were picked because they’re especially moisturizing, and some were chosen because they possess several of these qualities. All of them are linked below!
Do you have a favorite product for whenever you’re rocking a red lip? Let me know below!
