If I’m being honest, I’m super picky when it comes to taking care of my hair and the products that I use. Hask gave me the opportunity to switch up my routine and try out their Superfruit Healthy Hair Collection and I’m absolutely loving it!
For some background, I don’t put much time into my hair routine and most days I just get up, brush it and go. It’s rare that I use heat or product on my hair at all (I literally don’t own a straightener and I’ve used a blowdryer maybe 12 times in the past three years.) I curl my hair a few times a year for special events, but that’s pretty much it. When it comes to shampooing and conditioning, I typically wash my hair at night and go to bed with slightly damp hair.
I’m a sucker for a fun lip product, so while I was in NYC I stopped by the BITE Lip Lab on Prince Street in SoHo to design my very own BITE lipstick. This location is the only BITE Lip Lab in the world and when designing your lipstick you get to pick four aspects: 1. The color (of course) 2. The texture/finish. 3. The scent 4. The style of lid.
This past weekend, the weather in Chicago was absolutely gorgeous and I had the pleasure of attending my third Beauty Trend Show at Nordstrom on Michigan Avenue!
It was awesome to see so many familiar faces both on and off the runway. I’ve only been to the Fall Beauty Trend Show in the past, so I loved getting to see the Spring side of things! I’m loving some of the trends this season and I’ve linked all the featured brands and products from the show in this post!
Let’s be honest here, I’m a bit of a Target junkie. I go in for one thing and then 20 minutes later I find myself in line to check out with three more things that I discovered while roaming around. There are a few sections that I always hit up whenever I set foot in Target: office supplies, the dollar section (I’ve found some great stationery there!), the women’s clothing section, and the beauty aisles. Whenever I walk through beauty, I’m always overwhelmed by the seemingly endless options when it comes to every kind of product you could imagine, especially when it comes to skincare.
I’m really not one for new year’s resolutions… I’m not the best at keeping them, at least. However, one of my resolutions this year is to take better care of my skin by hydrating and moisturizing more. In other words, to drink more water and find products that agree with my skin and really make a difference in how it looks and feels. I have somewhat sensitive skin, so I also want to make sure that what I’m putting on my skin, especially my face, does more good than harm.
A “new-to-me” brand, derma e, recently launched their line at Target and released a brand new product, Firming DMAE Eye Lift, which specifically targets (mini pun there) a bunch of the under-eye issues that lead to looking far more tired than you actually are. Given the fact that I never sleep enough, I can use all the help I can get. I got to try it out as well as a bunch of the other derma e products that have launched at Target, and I love them! One of my favorite aspects of the products and brand, beyond the visual change in my skin that I have noticed, is the fact that derma e uses what they call “Green Chemistry,” a term that’s explained below in the derma e story.
I’ve talked about Pinrose on Bowtiful Life before, in my September favorites video and in my Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trend Show recap! Ever since I was introduced to the brand, I’ve been hooked! The packaging is adorable, the scents smell amazing, and the way they help you pick you scent is super cool! To figure out the “perfect” scent, you take their quiz and they match you up with your scent personality type and the three fragrances that go along with that type! I got “goddess” when I took it.

Hey lovelies! Today I’m sharing one of my new favorite summer makeup must-haves with all of you. Read on to find out how you can get full lashes for the summer without wearing falsies! When I was in high school, I had to wear false eyelashes regularly for dance competitions and they were probably my least favorite thing about competition days. I could never wait to pull the furry lashes off of my eyelids at the end of the day and it would be such an incredibly weird sensation every time I accidentally brushed them with my hand. It was always a very odd feeling putting them on in the morning and I’d feel like I was wearing caterpillars on my eyes until I got used to them or forgot I was wearing them. False lashes are one of the very few things that I really don’t miss about dance.
That being said, when Physicians Formula asked me to try out their new mascara/extension kit that creates a more natural version of false lashes, without any glue or hassle, I knew that I had to try it for myself!
I’ve gotta admit, the first time I tried their Eye Booster & Lash Extension Kit I wasn’t sold. I noticed a slight change, but not quite as much change as I expected. However, I tried it out again yesterday and WOW. I think the first time I tried the kit it didn’t work as well because I put the base coat of mascara on the top and bottom lashes of each eye before starting to apply the extensions which meant the mascara was already semi dry. The next time I tried it out, I put the mascara on the top lashes of one eye, added the extensions, and sealed it with another coat of mascara before going on the the bottom of the same eye or starting with the next eye. It worked so well and I saw a major difference which was much more like what I’d expected after seeing the packaging and all that the product had promised. It also stayed on the whole day without smudging or budging at all, one of my makeup pet peeves, so I’m sold!I was worried at first about wearing contacts or some of the extensions falling into my eye and irritating it because I have insanely sensitive eyes. Ola has witnessed a teary-eyed Megan on so many photo shoots due to my eyes’ sensitivity to sun, wind, etc. so it made sense that I was worried about the mascara and extensions. However, being familiar with the brand (I love their color-correcting concealer), I should’ve known it would be fine! Physicians Formula is known for making organic and natural makeup that is 100% free from any known irritants, so it’s perfect for someone with sensitive eyes and skin, like me!
Physicians Formula’s Eye Booster & Lash Extension Kit is definitely one of my new favorite summer essentials for any time I want my eyes to have some extra oomph! I’ll definitely be picking up another kit at Walmart after this one runs out! Do you think you’ll try this new way to get fuller lashes without falsies for summer?
